When an evil spirit known as Gayasura, did hefty repentance and looked for help that whoever sees him ought to achieve salvation (Moksham). Since salvation is accomplished through being equitable in the course of one's life, individuals began getting it without any problem. 

To keep unethical individuals from accomplishing salvation Lord Vishnu asked Gayasura to go underneath the earth and did as such by setting his correct foot on asura's head.
