Ruler Vikram was given the obligation of bringing Betal to a tantric. Betal generally signifies 'abhorrent soul'. Each time Vikram attempted to catch Betal, it revealed to him a story that finished with a puzzle. On the off chance that Vikram couldn't respond to the inquiry effectively, Betal consented to stay in imprisonment. Be that as it may, if the ruler knew the appropriate response and still stayed silent, his head would blast into a thousand pieces. Also, if King Vikram spoke, Betal would get away and come back to his tree.

Ruler Vikramaditya arrived at the peepul tree and set Betal on his shoulder by and by. As they strolled, Betal started to recount to another story.

"One evening, a man came into the court of King Roopsen, requesting to be utilized as the King's guardian. He presented himself as Birbal and vowed to ensure the King. Subsequent to watching a presentation of his abilities, the King promptly consented to give him the activity.

As Birbal was strolling through the backwoods one day, he heard a peculiar and alarming shout. It was an evil presence who had plunged from the mountains and was raging towards the King's royal residence. Birbal drew his blade and bounced in the evil spirit's way.

"I am here to oust the King and send him into the woodland, away from extravagances and solace. On the off chance that he doesn't leave, I will revile his entire realm!" said the evil spirit.

Birbal was stunned at this news and asked, "Is there anything I can do to spare both the King and Kingdom?"

The evil presence thundered, "You should locate a reasonable substitute for the King! One who is of an unadulterated heart!"

Birbal requested a day to locate a substitute and returned home. At the point when he came clean with his family, his child offered himself as a substitute for the King.

The following morning, King Roopsen got expression of the evil presence and showed up to the backwoods to attempt to stop Birbal and his child.

"What would i be able to give you, O evil presence, to prevent you from taking this youngster! Clearly there is something I can offer you!", said the King.

"Give me a large portion of your realm and I will save both you and this little youngster", howled the evil presence.

The King consented to hand over portion of his realm to the devil and Birbal's child was protected.

"So let me know, insightful King," started Betal. "Who made a bigger penance? Birbal's young child or the King?"

Ruler Vikramaditya chuckled and stated, "It is a King's obligation to secure his subjects, however Birbal's child was prepared to surrender his life for a man he didn't have the foggiest idea, and that, is the most elevated penance."

"You are correct! In any case, since you have opened your mouth, I should take off." With these words, Betal took off, leaving King Vikramaditya to pursue him with his blade.
