Shurpanakha was Ravana's sister, and it is accepted that she induced the fight among Rama and Ravana. There are various adaptations of the account of how Shurpanakha was the purpose for the fight. All things considered, as indicated by Valmiki's rendition, Shurpanakha moved toward Rama with a proposition to be engaged, however he denied her proposition.

She at that point went to Laxman. Laxman too declined her proposition and astounded she chose to hurt Sita. On Rama's organization, Laxman slashed off Shurpankha's nose.

Offended and dispirited she went to her sibling Ravana who kidnapped Sita to look for retribution on Rama and Laxman.
