At some point, all divine beings approach Lord Vishnu begging him to spare them from the assault of the rakshasas. Master Vishnu says that he needs more capacity to battle the evil spirits and would need to look for Lord Shiva's assistance.

 At the point when he comes to Kailash, he discovers Lord Shiva in a profound daze. Reluctant to upset him, Lord Vishnu chooses to petition God for Shiva until he emerges from his daze. 

Vishnu would recite the name of Shiva a thousand times each day by offering one lotus bloom against each serenade. This continues for a long time before Shiva emerges from the daze one day. Not realizing that Shiva has emerged from his daze, Vishnu proceeds with his reciting for the afternoon. 

Shiva chooses to pull a prank on Vishnu, and furtively eliminates one lotus from the pack that Vishnu had masterminded. 

After Vishnu drones for multiple times, he understands that one bloom is absent from his assortment. He quickly culls out his eye and offers it at the feet of the Shiva. 

Dazzled by Vishnu's commitment, Shiva instructs him to request a shelter. Vishnu requests that he enable to vanquish the devils to spare all the divine beings.

 Ruler Shiva gives him a round plate, called the 'Sudarshana Chakra', which has the ability to execute anything.
