An intriguing legend is described to legitimize separate dwelling sanctuaries, far away from one another, for Rukmini and her better half Krishna. It is said that in line with sage Durvasa (who was prestigious for his touchiness and presenting curses) Krishna and Rukmini pulled a chariot taking sage Durvasa to their home for supper.

In transit, when Rukmini requested water to extinguish her thirst, Krishna drew Ganges water, by nudging the ground with his toe, for her to drink. Rukmini extinguished her thirst with the Ganges water. Be that as it may, Durvasa felt offended as Rukmini didn't have the kindness to bring to the table him water to drink.

He, thusly, reviled her that she would live independently from her significant other.
