Tenali Ramakrishna is known to have helped the lord and spared the residents of Vijayanagara with his knowledge on a few events. Here is one such story. 

There was a buzz in the city of Vijayanagara that an extraordinary sage had gone to the city. It was additionally supposed that the sage had mystical powers and could allow any desire. Consistently, the residents would assemble close to the sanctuary where the savvy sat thinking and offer him different delights. 

Tenali Rama, as well, caught wind of this savvy and chose to see things for himself. The following day, Rama went to the sanctuary and watched the savvy, at the same time professing to be a follower. The wise sat under a banyan tree. He wore a saffron dhoti and had a long whiskers, which was dark at certain spots. 

Tenali Rama saw the wise reciting a mantra and tuned in with consideration. He found that the sage was consistently reciting the equivalent sloka. This persuaded him that the sage was a sham. 

He connected and culled a strand of hair from the wise's whiskers. Holding the strand of hair and lifting his hand high noticeable all around, Rama yelled, "I have the way to paradise." People around saw Rama astounded. 

Rama proceeded, "This sage is amazing to the point that on the off chance that I keep this strand of his whiskers with me, I will be sent directly to paradise in the afterlife." 

Hearing this, the individuals surged towards the sage to pull out a strand of hair from his whiskers. Seeing the crowd hurrying towards him, the sage fled and never ventured his foot in the city again.
