Another variant with respect to the sanctification of the Main Idol of the Temple identifies with the amazing sage Vilvamangalathu Swamiyar. Swamiyar, who lived close Ananthapuram Temple in Kasaragod District, appealed to Lord Vishnu for his darshan or "promising sight". The Lord is accepted to have come in the pretense of a young kid who was mischievous.

The kid contaminated the Idol which was saved for Puja. The sage got goaded at this and pursued away from the kid who vanished before him. Understanding the kid was no standard human, the sage sobbed for absolution and requested another darshan as a sign.

He heard a voice say "In the event that you need to see me go to the Anathavanam. After a long pursuit, when he was strolling on the banks of Laccadive Sea, he heard a pulaya woman cautioning her youngster that she would toss him in Ananthankadu.

The second the Swami heard the word Ananthankadu he was charmed. He continued to Ananthankadu dependent on the bearings of the woman of whom he enquired. The Sage came to Ananthankadu looking for the kid. There he saw the kid converging into an Iluppa tree (Indian Butter Tree). The tree tumbled down and became Anantha Sayana Moorti (Vishnu leaning back on the heavenly snake Anantha).

However, the building that the Lord accepted that was of remarkably huge size, with His head at Thiruvattar close Thuckalay Tamil Nadu, Body or Udal at Thiruvananthapuram, and lotus-feet at Thrippadapuram close Kulathoor and Technopark (Thrippappur), making him about eight miles long. The Sage mentioned the Lord to the therapist to a littler extent that would be threefold the length of his staff.

Promptly the Lord shrank to the type of the Idol that is seen at present in the Temple. However, and still, after all that numerous Iluppa trees hindered a total vision of the Lord. The Sage saw the Lord in three sections – thirumukham, thiruvudal, and thrippadam. Master appealed to Padmanabha to be excused. The Swami offered Rice Kanji and Uppumanga (salted mango pieces) in a coconut shell to the Perumal which he got from the pulaya lady.

The spot where the Sage had darshan of the Lord had a place with Koopakkara Potti and Karuva Potti. With the help of the supreme King and some Brahmin families, a Temple was constructed. The Ananthankadu Nagaraja Temple despite everything exists toward the northwest of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple.

The Samadhi (last resting place) of the Swamiyar exists toward the west of the Padmanabha Temple. A Krishna Temple was worked over the Samadhi. This Temple, known as Vilvamangalam Sri Krishna Swami Temple, has a place with Thrissur Naduvil Madhom.
