As indicated by this story, Lord Ganesha was behind the beginning of waterway Kaveri. Some time in the past, sage Agastya needed to make a stream to give water to the land in the south. He took the gifts of Lord Shiva and Brahma and set off with his kamandala loaded up with hallowed water.

At the point when he came to Coorg mountains, he needed to answer nature's call, yet couldn't keep his kamandala down.

There, he saw a little youngster and requested that he hold the kamandala until he returned. The kid was Lord Ganesha, who kept the kamandala on the ground as he knew it was an ideal spot for the stream to start.

All at once a crow came and sat on its head. At the point when the sage returned, he shooed the flying creature away which prompted the kamadala falling topsy turvy and the water began spilling out of that spot, which was later called stream Kaveri.
