At the point when Lord Rama got back to Ayodhya subsequent to overcoming Ravana, Hanumanji began living here. That is the reason it was named Hanumangarh or Hanuman Kot. From here, Hanumanji used to secure Ramkot. In the primary sanctuary, Pawansut sits in the lap of Mata Anjani.

This immense sanctuary and its private complex are spread more than 52 bighas. Numerous sanctuaries of the nation including Vrindavan, Nashik, Ujjain, Jagannathpuri have resources, akharas, and gatherings of this temple.

It is a custom that before visiting Ram sanctuary one should initially pay a visit to Lord Hanuman temple. The sanctuary houses Hanuman's mom, Anjani, with a youthful Hanuman sitting on her lap.

Hanuman Garhi sanctuary is situated close to Ram Janmabhoomi. In 1855, the Nawab of Awadh spared the sanctuary from demolition by Muslims. The Muslims thought Hanumangarhi had been worked over a mosque. Historian Sarvepalli Gopal has said that the 1855 debate was not for the Babri Masjid-Ram Temple site yet for the Hanuman Garhi sanctuary.
