Baidhyanath Temple is one of the 12 jyotirlingas.

As indicated by Hindu convictions, the evil spirit ruler Ravana venerated Shiva at the current site of the sanctuary to get the shelters that he later used to unleash destruction on the planet. Ravana offered his ten heads in a steady progression to Shiva as a penance.

 Satisfied with this, Shiva slid to fix Ravana who was harmed. As he went about as a specialist, he is alluded to as Vaidhya ("doctor"). From this part of Shiva, the sanctuary infers its name.
